Northern lights: it is recommended to hunt for the northern lights on the day of your arrival. if the weather conditions are unfavorable, we will postpone the tour for the following days. The Northern Lights super jeep tour is dependent on the weather and sky conditions and we reserve the right to cancel at any time. If the evening tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer you to try once again for free!

While traveling through the road leading to the Oxararfos waterfall, you can observe the Almannagja fault, which is the result of the daily tectonic movements between the European and American plates. A stunningly beautiful view over the plain is opening from the park’s informational center.

After visiting Thingvellir, we traverse the Lyngdalsheiði route until we reach Geysir and Gullfoss, where we stop for lunch.

The Geysir site is hosting a wide range of geothermal phenomena: geysers, hot springs, solfataras, fumaroles, foaming ponds, but, first of all, it is internationally known for the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 8-10 minutes and ejects a significant water column, reaching even 25 meters height. You may have, up to your choice, a short ascending on the hill, which offers a magnificent panorama over the surrounding valley.

At Gullfoss, a different representation of nature’s mightiness is waiting for us. Here, the Langjokull glacier’s water is ejected at 32 meters height inside the canyon and goes downwards, in a deafening rumble. When the weather conditions are nice, it is not uncommon to notice the image of a rainbow drawing itself above the falls.

We then have a lunch break at Gullfoss Café, before trying out our Superjeep vehicles off-road. The ride will take you to the highlands, rough terrain, and glacier area of Langjökull (Icelandic for "long glacier"), known to be the second-largest ice cap in Iceland (953 km2). You will enjoy the landscape from your Superjeep while occasionally stopping at incredible sights. The more adventurous will be able to discover the glacier by snowmobile with a guide (optional). If you chose not to go on the snowmobile tour, we continue our highlands exploration of this magnificent landscape.

On the way back, we pass by the beautiful Faxi waterfall and the Hveragerdi village, before driving back to Reykjavik.

 The tour lasts 8 hours.

After an exciting drive, we come to a stop in front of Kötlujökull glacier. it’s time to walk closer to the ice cave. Once you reach the ‘secret ice cave’, explore the inside of it as you admire the range of colors including black, white, and blue ice, shaped by glacial water that has been flowing for hundreds of years.

We walk around inside, taking our time to admire and let it all sink in before returning back out to the wonderland of the Kötlujökull mountains. We will walk around a little to see if the smaller ice caves are accessible before returning back to our Super Jeep. On the way back we will stop at both popular Skógafoss waterfall, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and drive past the greenhouse town of Hveragerði, a place named after the abundant geothermal activity in the area which allows the locals to grow all kinds of plants and produce in row upon row in greenhouses.
